Dean Potter "slack-lining" in California

How many of us have recurring nightmares that we wish would go away forever? Dean Potter’s answer to his own bad dream of freefalling to his death from great heights is to recreate it in real life (minus the death part). Potter, an eccentric 38-year old American mountain climber, has made a name for himself as a free climber (someone who climbs sans safety equipment) and a BASE jumper (someone who jumps from buildings or mountains with a parachute to break the fall). His latest extreme endeavor is “free-base” climbing, a combination of the two activities. In 2008, Potter free-based the Eiger in Switzerland, climbing to the summit without safety gear and then launching himself off the face of the mountain with a 6-pound parachute on his back. Andre at Prana alerted us to this very cool video that takes a look inside Dean’s world. YouTube Preview Image

Free movie of epic expedition led by Ed Hillary to climb Fiordland’s Kaipo Wall, New Zealand in 1974. Old school thrill of adventure. http://www.nzonscreen.com/title/the-adventure-world-of-sir-edmund-hillary-1974/series
